If you’re keen to set off somewhere reliably lovely in terms of the weather, the welcome, the food and the surroundings, but you’re working with a limited budget this year then a trip to Greece could be just the thing. There are plenty of cheap holidays to Greece available right now and there’s absolutely no need to compromise on quality.
You may well know already what a trip to Greece has to offer holidaymakers, with wonderful weather, really excellent beaches, exquisite local cuisine available all over and an atmosphere of fun and relaxation. Just a few hours flight time from a lengthy list of UK airports, there is no secret to why so many British tourists set off to the Aegean each and every year.
If you’re a beach lover then you’ll want to stay close to the coast of course but there is every opportunity to do that with so many unique and often captivating seaside regions and islands right across the country. There is always likely to be sites of great historical interest all around you, whichever part of Greece you visit and there are areas renowned for their fun-filled and action-packed night-life if that is what you and you fellow travellers are really on the look out for.
The list of potential destinations when it comes to planning a vacation to Greece is a lengthy one indeed but you are unlikely to be disappointed wherever you book your stay. The range of accommodation available covers just about all your bases, whether you’re travelling as a family, with friends or if you have a romantic week or so in the sun planned as a special surprise. There are truly breath-taking ancient sights to see and beaches every bit as majestic as any you’ll find elsewhere in the Mediterranean.

Just wanting to agree with your advice that Greece is a good choice for a holiday destination this year despite the difficulties many of the local people are facing (because of the worsening economic crisis). You are right that there are lots and lots of great places to visit in Greece. One I would recommend is Pilio (wrongly known as Pelion), which is a peninsula on the east coast of mainland Greece. Unusually for Greece it is lush and green, with forested slopes that run down to some lovely beaches and coves on the coast. Best of all it is not overly commercialised or developed, so you can still enjoy some of the traditional spirit of Greece.
